OS X 10.7 Lion is here

Apple just released OS X 10.7 Lion today. It is the newest version of the Mac’s OS X operating system, and secedes Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. A lot has been written about Lion so far, and suggest reading at least one of these great reviews (links at the end of the post). I’ve done the upgrade, and am putting it through its paces. Overall, its a delight, with a lot of small interface changes, and a lot of power under the hood. Read about what’s new on Apple’s page.

Here’s a few quick tips that you need to know before upgrading.

Read Macworld’s Installing Lion: Our complete guide. They cover it all, and anything here is redundant. But one thing they DON’T mention…

DAYLITE and BILLINGS PRO

if you use Daylite or Billings Pro, DO NOT UPGRADE THE MAC RUNNING DAYLITE SERVER OR BILLINGS PRO SERVER TO LION. You can upgrade your Mac to Lion if it is not running the Daylite/BPro Server, and for Daylite you’ll need to download Daylite 3.15 Beta (Lion Compatible) to get it to work properly. There were a few last minute changes Apple made to lion, and Marketcircle is working on it. Read their blog post about the issue.

There will be a lot of new Lion info, hiccups and news coming out in the next days and weeks, so stay tuned.
