: UGUtech Monitor

UGUtech Monitoring is a system for alerting UGUtech Consulting when our client’s Macs experience problems with their backups, hardware, and other critical aspects of a Mac’s health. UGUtech Monitoring constantly keeps us updated on the condition of a Mac’s critical resources, thereby preventing or mitigating costly damage to hardware and loss of data. When the UGUtech Monitor detects a problem or issue, it alerts us with a detailed email, and logs the alert in a central database. We’ll know before you do of potential problems with your desktop, portable, and server Macs, and can respond before its too late.

Items Monitored:

Status of Time Machine backups.
Hard drive health (SMART, disk errors).
Verification of available free space, on both boot and secondary drives.
RAM and hardware health (RAM, POST, Kernel Panics)
Laptop battery health.
The health of disk cloning Carbon Copy Cloner errors.
The health of SoftRAID disks and volumes.
The health of Apple Disk Utility based RAID volumes.
The health of Apple hardware RAID based volumes.
The health of Daylite Server, Billings Pro Server, CrashPlan PRO Server.
The health of the UGUtech Client Updater itself.

While there are a number of products in the marketplace which can tell an organization about the health of their computers, UGUtech Monitoring excels at offering a simple, non-invasive method of monitoring customers’ computers.

F.A.Q.

Q: What about privacy? Can you see my desktop? Can you control my mouse and read my files?

A: No. The UGUtech UGUtech Client does not grant control or ownership of the end user’s computer; it is simply an excellent reporting tool. All it does is run tests on the various services, and notifies UGUtech Consulting when one of those reports a problem.

Q: What if I no longer want to have one of my Macs monitored? Can I uninstall it?

A: Yes, you can uninstall the UGUtech Client at any time with the click of a button in System Preferences.

Q: Will having the UGUtech Client installed slow my Mac down? Will it interfere with my other applications?

A: No. The UGUtech Client is a very small program that uses almost no system resources. Once installed, you’ll forget its even running.
